THE STATIONERY STORE
In 1990 Posh Papers opened in the Hillside Village and became known in the community as the place to go for unique wedding invitations, birth announcements and holiday photo cards. After twelve years of being a storeowner, Melody adopted five-year-old Joe, took time out from her business to be a “hands-on” mom, and began planning to begin the one service that she had come to realize her community needed from her the most.
She became a volunteer for the Hospice Foundation, creating “Comfort Corner” in the Hospice Thrift Avenue and did freelance work designing Custom Written Memorial Programs for funerals. Inspired by the reactions to her design work and how it helped others with the grief of losing a loved one, she spent months learning a new trade, DVD Production, the one perfect media to add to her graphic arts portfolio.

THE MORTUARY EXPERIENCE
In 2006, deciding she needed to learn as much as she could about the funeral industry, Melody began working as a Chapel Attendant for Rice Mortuary, the finest in the community, with the same drive to bring a new, innovative experience to families as they grieve their loss of a loved one. Within a short time, Melody was promoted within the company of seven mortuaries to White and Day Mortuary in Manhattan Beach as a DVD Production Specialist. Dedicated to the mortuary and clients she cared for so much, her job responsibilities only confirmed the need for more of the custom and innovative ideas she had to offer to families in need of her services. In May of 2007, Melody, with the blessing of her co-workers and a heartfelt farewell, left the mortuary to complete her work on The Great Tribute. She will forever be grateful to Rice Mortuary and their devoted staff for the opportunity to serve the community with them.
